This is a very common questions for newer businesses, or just businesses that haven’t started up on their social media journeys yet. It’s a very viable question, as you can see both happening when on social media. When checking Instagram, you see nothing but influencers, while Facebook tends to have a lot of cool “Fan Pages.” Which one is the right route for your business? Do you create a separate business account, or should you try to use your current personal account to market your business? The answer is both!
It’s important make a separate LinkedIn, Instagram & Facebook page for your Business! Absolutely don’t share those pages, unless you are building your brand under your own name as an influencer with OVER 25K Followers. Even then I would have a separate account!
How does marketing differ on personal vs business accounts?
Marketing is a little different on LinkedIn. It’s one of the few platforms where it’s actually better to become an influencer for your business. LinkedIn platform favors people over businesses, while the other two have little preference. It’s important to create your brand and publicize it through their own social media accounts so that others can follow what your business has to say. Give your business profile some personality, just don’t make it about YOUR personal life!
Can I market my business social media account with my personal account?
There’s nothing wrong with linking towards your business account using your main account, however. In fact, I recommend it! These are the benefits of having a separate business Facebook account. It’s how you can get your followers & friends to see your business’ posts! Share your business posts on your personal page whenever it’s something relevant to your friends/ followers. Then when they like it (on Facebook,) you can invite them. On Instagram, it would be better to tag your personal profile in your business’s “Story,” and then share that “Story” on your own profile, which will automatically link to your business page.
** A Hidden Tip I can provide is to actually “link” your Instagram business profile to your Facebook business profile account. There are a lot of benefits to this. One of which, is to be able to share posts onto both platforms simultaneously. Ex. posting an Instagram post that also publishes onto your Facebook automatically. (instructions shown below)
